Japanese Bamboo-Form Waste Paper Bin, Early 20th C.

$780.00

Of cylindrical form and constructed to evoke the bound staves of a traditional festival drum, the body articulated with vertical slats enclosed by simulated bamboo bands and delicate cord-work ornament. The dark lacquered surface, softly worn at the extremities, reveals a warm undertone and lends the piece a quiet, time-softened character. Both sculptural and functional, the bin reflects the enduring dialogue between utility and decorative refinement found in Japanese domestic objects of the late Meiji and Taishō periods.

An atmospheric accessory for a study or sitting room, it offers a restrained yet distinctive note of craftsmanship, patina, and cultural resonance.
