A Three-Handled Polychrome Ceramic Lamp With Silver Mounts, Faenza, 20th Century

$1,400.00

This lamp, converted from a vase, takes an elegant ovoid form, rising from a silver-mounted circular foot, which was likely cast and engraved. The body is finely painted in the Faenza ceramic tradition, which is historically renowned for majolica pottery. The upper register is decorated with a striking pair of fan-like, Owl eye designs in warm ochre and green hues, framed by delicate scrollwork and foliate elements. The lamp is surmounted by a short cylindrical neck with a silver-mounted rim, flanked by three angular handles, each painted with alternating blue and ochre detailing, suggesting an influence of Medieval or early 20th-century revival styles.
